The Dutch family Paapst descends from Johann Christian Pabst, born on 31 August 1763 in Emden, Germany. His son Harm Friederich emigrated to the Netherlands around 1822, where the name was erroneously registered as "Paapst" — a spelling all direct descendants carry to this day.
The oldest known ancestor is Jan Paap, born circa 1595 in Harlingen. The family tree spans over four centuries, connecting the group's modern ventures to a lineage of public service and craftsmanship.
